A St Au­gus­tine man who was chopped in the face by his girl­friend’s teenage son dur­ing an ar­gu­ment over him spend­ing the night at their house, was said to be in a sta­ble con­di­tion at hos­pi­tal yes­ter­day.

Po­lice said the 28-year-old vic­tim was at the woman’s apart­ment at Pasea Ex­ten­sion in Tu­na­puna, around 12.30 am on No­vem­ber 17 – when he and the woman’s 17-year-old son be­came em­broiled in an ar­gu­ment.

It was al­leged that dur­ing a heat­ed ex­change with his moth­er, the teenag­er grabbed a cut­lass and chopped the vic­tim across the right cheek.

The land­lord was alert­ed about the in­ci­dent as the 46-year-old woman be­gan scream­ing for help and he con­tact­ed the po­lice as the teenag­er drove off in his fa­ther’s truck.

Rush­ing in­to the woman’s apart­ment, the land­lord found the vic­tim and his girl­friend hold­ing a bloody tow­el to his cheek and he called the Emer­gency Health Ser­vices to re­quest as­sis­tance.

The vic­tim was lat­er tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope where he was treat­ed and ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

Of­fi­cers processed the scene and seized a cut­lass with a black blade ap­prox­i­mate­ly 30 inch­es long, which had been left on a ta­ble in the liv­ing room.

Of­fi­cers said an ar­rest is im­mi­nent.
