A St Augustine man who was chopped in the face by his girlfriend’s teenage son during an argument over him spending the night at their house, was said to be in a stable condition at hospital yesterday.
Police said the 28-year-old victim was at the woman’s apartment at Pasea Extension in Tunapuna, around 12.30 am on November 17 – when he and the woman’s 17-year-old son became embroiled in an argument.
It was alleged that during a heated exchange with his mother, the teenager grabbed a cutlass and chopped the victim across the right cheek.
The landlord was alerted about the incident as the 46-year-old woman began screaming for help and he contacted the police as the teenager drove off in his father’s truck.
Rushing into the woman’s apartment, the landlord found the victim and his girlfriend holding a bloody towel to his cheek and he called the Emergency Health Services to request assistance.
The victim was later taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope where he was treated and warded in a stable condition.
Officers processed the scene and seized a cutlass with a black blade approximately 30 inches long, which had been left on a table in the living room.
Officers said an arrest is imminent.
