Exactly two months since his father was killed during an attempted robbery at a bar in South by a retired police officer, 18-year-old Obar Antoine was gunned down while on his way to a relative's house in St James on Sunday night.
According to a police report, at about 7 pm Antoine was fatally shot while walking south along Dibe Road, Long Circular, St James.
Police said a silver-grey Toyota Yaris drove past Antoine and stopped. A lone gunman came out of the vehicle and shot Antoine several times, before returning to the vehicle which then sped off.
Antoine attempted to flee the scene, despite being shot several times about the body.
However, he collapsed along the eastern side of the roadway in the vicinity of Toussaint Street where he died.
Relatives, who were at the Forensic Science Centre on Monday said they believe that Antoine was killed because he "got mixed up in the wrong crowd."
"We repeatedly warned him of associating with known shooters. We believe he was killed due to the ongoing gang war between Belle Vue and Long Circular gangs. He was on his way to his grandfather's house, " a relative said.
Relatives described him as "miserable, " but said, "he liked to laugh and kicks off but most of the times he kept to himself but the association was an issue."
On September 11, Antoine's father, Fredericks was killed by a retired police officer at a bar in San Fernando during an attempted robbery at a bar on the corner of Cipero and Sutton Street.

Fredericks died clutching two gold chains after trying to escape from the attempted bar robbery. He was shot in the chest.
Fredericks died at the scene while his wounded accomplice escaped. The accomplice was shot in the leg.
