Teen hiding AR15, ammo in bedroom arrested

A 17-year-old boy who was held on Sat­ur­day with a high-pow­ered ri­fle and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion in San­gre Grande is cur­rent­ly as­sist­ing po­lice with in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

He was ar­rest­ed dur­ing an an­ti-gang op­er­a­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, at 6.30 pm on Sat­ur­day, of­fi­cers ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at a house in North East­ern Set­tle­ment.

Dur­ing the raid, of­fi­cers from the East­ern Di­vi­sion­al Gang and In­tel­li­gence Unit al­leged­ly found one black AR-15 equipped with one mag­a­zine, 21 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion, 50 rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion and one drum mag­a­zine con­tain­ing a quan­ti­ty of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion in the ac­cused’s bed­room.

The teen was ar­rest­ed and tak­en in­to po­lice cus­tody as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue.

Mean­while, in an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent in Fyz­abad, a PH taxi dri­ver was ar­rest­ed af­ter po­lice found him in pos­ses­sion of a firearm, a mag­a­zine and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, at 11.10 am on Sat­ur­day, of­fi­cers of the South-West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force were on an ex­er­cise along Mulchan Trace, Fyz­abad, when they ob­served a man with a black pouch act­ing sus­pi­cious­ly.

Up­on see­ing the of­fi­cers, he al­leged­ly be­gan run­ning.

The of­fi­cers chased down the sus­pect and sub­se­quent­ly de­tained him in a near­by bushy area.

He was searched and po­lice al­leged­ly found and seized one black and sil­ver Sig Sauer pis­tol fit­ted with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing ten rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion.

The firearm and am­mu­ni­tion are cur­rent­ly be­ing processed by crime scene ex­perts and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
