The Tobago House of Assembly’s (THA’s) Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection is tightening up internal systems after discrepancies were identified in the Auditor General’s 2021 report for the period October 2020 to September 2021.
In a release yesterday, the division said it is paying close attention to the comments made in the Auditor General’s Report for the financial year 2021.
The division’s statement added, “It is important to note that the discrepancies identified in the report occurred during the period October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021, which was during the tenure of the previous administration.”
The current Progressive Democratic Patriots administration controlling the THA took office in December 2021 after deferating the People’s National Movement 14-1 in the election.
The division added, “Assemblyman Dr Faith B.Yisrael, Secretary of Health, Wellness and Social Protection and Assemblyman Sonny Craig, Assistant Secretary in the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, have reviewed the report and advised the administrator to do the following:
• Critically review the division’s internal processes and controls to ensure that they are comprehensive.
• Ensure that the division strictly adheres to the policies and procedures that do exist.
• Ensure that the division develops policies and standard operating procedures, where they do not exist.
