Third pensioner found dead at home in two weeks

For the third time, in two weeks, the de­com­pos­ing body of an el­der­ly man was found at his home on Mon­day.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers of the San­gre Grande CID vis­it­ed Bak­er Trace, Coalmine around 9 am af­ter res­i­dents com­plained of a foul stench com­ing from the home of Gre­go­ry Git­tens.

On reach­ing the home, the of­fi­cers found Git­tens' body.

A rel­a­tive who was al­so at the scene said that Git­tens was ill for some time but re­fused to seek med­ical treat­ment.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors did not see any marks of vi­o­lence on Git­tens' body.

Po­lice were told by neigh­bours that Git­tens was last seen alive on March 3.

San­gre Grande po­lice and Re­gion II Homi­cide in­ves­ti­ga­tors are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.

Last Tues­day, po­lice were called to dif­fer­ent parts of La Canoa, San­ta Cruz, where the de­com­pos­ing bod­ies of two el­der­ly men were dis­cov­ered in two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents.

In the first in­ci­dent, 82-year-old Leroy James was found in the bed of his Saut D'Eau Road, home.

Hours lat­er po­lice were called to Vicky Trace, where they found the body of Amin Pierre on a bed.

There were no marks of vi­o­lence on both men.
