Ac­cord­ing to her rep­re­sen­ta­tives, she died peace­ful­ly af­ter a long ill­ness in her home in Küs­nacht near Zurich, Switzer­land.

Turn­er was known for leav­ing a hard­scrab­ble farm­ing com­mu­ni­ty and abu­sive re­la­tion­ship to be­come one of the top record­ing artists of all time.
