There were two new deaths—two unvaccinated people—from COVID-19 in Tobago, during the period Sunday 14 to Saturday 20 August 2022, according to the latest weekly update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
Tobago’s death toll from the disease is now 279, as at Saturday, August 20. Three COVID-19 deaths had been recorded the week before, Sunday 7 to Saturday 13 August 2022.
In addition, the THA Health Division report notes 166 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tobago, last week. The number of active infections, as at Saturday, August 20, was 210. This is an increase from the previous week (August 7 to 13, 2022), at which time there were 162 active cases.
In terms of hospitalisations for COVID-19, the Health Division reports that 16 people are hospitalised. Nine of these patients are unvaccinated against the disease, while the remaining seven patients are fully vaccinated.
The Tobago COVID-19 update also reports that patients continue to survive the disease as 116 people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 during the period August 14 to 20, 2022.
A total of 10,398 in Tobago have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020—up from 10,282 the previous week.
