Over the past 24 hours, some 22 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Tobago. There are now 532 current active infections on the island.
That’s according to the latest update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), dated Monday 23 May 2022.
The report also shows that while people in Tobago continue to be infected with COVID-19, many previously infected people are recovering from the disease, as another 18 people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
That means at present, the total number of people in Tobago who have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020, now stands at 8,728.
In addition, the THA Health Division report notes that no new deaths from the disease have been recorded over the past 24 hours.
The most recent death was reported on Friday 20 May 2022, with an unvaccinated person identified as the deceased on that date. As such, the island’s death toll from COVID-19 remains at 268.
The Tobago COVID-19 update for 23 May 2022 also says that 10 people currently are hospitalised with COVID-19. Five of these patients have not been vaccinated at all against the disease, while the other five patients have been fully vaccinated.
