Over the past 24 hours, some 33 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported. There are now 514 current active infections on the island.
That’s according to the latest update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), dated Wednesday 18 May 2022.
The report also shows that while people in Tobago continue to be infected with COVID-19, many previously infected people are recovering from the disease, as another 46 people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
That means at present, the total number of people in Tobago who have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020, now stands at 8,555.
In addition, the THA Health Division report notes that no new deaths from the disease have been recorded over the past 24 hours.
The most recent death was reported on Thursday 12 May 2022, with an unvaccinated person identified as the deceased on that date. As such, the island’s death toll from COVID-19 remains at 267.
The Tobago COVID-19 update for 18 May 2022 also says that 19 people currently are hospitalised with COVID-19. Thirteen of these patients have not been vaccinated at all against the disease, while the other six patients have been fully vaccinated.
