A Tobago pensioner was arrested after begging officers for a “bligh” when they found him with cocaine during a police patrol.
According to a police report, around 9:10 a.m. on Monday, officers were on mobile patrol along the Claude Noel Highway near Darrel Spring Extension when they spotted the 63-year-old man walking on the southern side of the road.
The officers believed he had just left a known drug block and stopped to search him.
During the search, they allegedly found a creamish, rock-like substance in his pants pocket resembling cocaine.
Before he was cautioned, the man reportedly pleaded with officers for a “bligh,” saying, “Oh gosh, ah now buy that by [name redacted] dey.”
He was arrested and taken to the Scarborough Police Station.
The cocaine weighed four grams. Investigations are continuing.
