Tobago police deploy drone in cannabis eradication exercise

A cul­ti­vat­ed plot of cannabis plants was de­stroyed by of­fi­cers fol­low­ing a drone-as­sist­ed erad­i­ca­tion ex­er­cise con­duct­ed in the To­ba­go Di­vi­sion on Mon­day.

Be­tween 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., of­fi­cers of the To­ba­go Di­vi­sion­al Task Force (Area East) car­ried out a cannabis erad­i­ca­tion

op­er­a­tion in the Bouch­er Trace, Belle Gar­den area. Act­ing on in­tel­li­gence, W/Cpl Al­leyne-Pan­tin de­ployed a drone to sur­vey the area, where a plot con­tain­ing sev­er­al mar­i­jua­na plants was lo­cat­ed ap­prox­i­mate­ly 400 me­tres off the road­way. She sub­se­quent­ly led a team of of­fi­cers to the site, where 38 cannabis plants, es­ti­mat­ed to have a street val­ue of $38,000, were up­root­ed and de­stroyed.

The op­er­a­tion was strate­gi­cal­ly di­rect­ed by ACP (Ag.) Subero, co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Elie, and spear­head­ed by Ag. ASP (Area West/Op­er­a­tions) Williams, In­sp Bac­chus, and W/Sgt (Ag.) Gor­don-Har­ris. It was su­per­vised by W/Cpl Al­leyne-Pan­tin.
