Tobago investigators are searching for suspects involved in a murder at Turtle Beach, Black Rock, after a man was found slumped over in a van yesterday.
Police said the deceased was 32-year-old Vernado George, also known as “Monster,” of Studley Park. He was an employee of Gencon Ltd, which was contracted to cut trees on behalf of T&TEC.
According to police reports, George was having lunch with three other workers when two masked men, dressed in blue jumpers and armed with firearms, approached him while he was sitting in the back of a vehicle. The assailants opened fire, shooting him multiple times before fleeing into nearby bushes.
An eyewitness told Guardian Media he saw two young men run up to the victim, shoot him, and escape on foot.
Officers from the Guard and Emergency Branch, the Inter-Agency Task Force, the Homicide Bureau, and the Tobago operations police service responded to the scene.
George is Tobago’s third murder victim for 2025. Investigations are ongoing.
