The first COVID-19-related death in almost a month has been recorded in Tobago, with an unvaccinated person confirmed as the victim. Their death has brought the death toll for COVID-19 on the island to 270 lives lost.
That’s according to the latest update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), dated Monday 20 June 2022.
Before yesterday, the most recent death had been reported on Sunday 29 May 2022, with a fully vaccinated person identified as the deceased on that date.
In addition, the THA Health Division report notes two more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Tobago over the past 24 hours. The number of current active infections now stands at 151.
The report also shows that while people in Tobago continue to be infected with COVID-19, many previously infected people are recovering from the disease, as 11 more people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
At present, the total number of people in Tobago who have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020 now stands at 9,555.
The Tobago COVID-19 update for 20 June 2022 also says that currently, 17 people are hospitalised with COVID-19. Eleven of these patients have not been vaccinated at all against the disease, while the other six patients have been fully vaccinated.
