Tobago police are searching for the suspect behind the island’s fifth murder for 2025, after 26-year-old shop owner Kylon Malcolm was gunned down at his business place in Pembroke on Sunday night.
Senior Superintendent Earl Elie said the incident happened around 8.50 pm, when Malcolm was at his shop along Pembroke Bay Road with his common-law wife. A masked man dressed in black and wearing a camouflage mask entered the premises, pointed what appeared to be a firearm at Malcolm, and fired several shots, hitting him about the body.
The report said gunman then turned the weapon on Malcolm’s common-law wife and demanded money before fleeing the scene. The injured shop owner was rushed to the Roxborough Regional Hospital by his wife and others but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police believe robbery was the motive for the killing, as the assailant attempted to take cash before escaping. Investigations are continuing.
