To­ba­go po­lice are search­ing for the sus­pect be­hind the is­land’s fifth mur­der for 2025, af­ter 26-year-old shop own­er Ky­lon Mal­colm was gunned down at his busi­ness place in Pem­broke on Sun­day night.

Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Earl Elie said the in­ci­dent hap­pened around 8.50 pm, when Mal­colm was at his shop along Pem­broke Bay Road with his com­mon-law wife. A masked man dressed in black and wear­ing a cam­ou­flage mask en­tered the premis­es, point­ed what ap­peared to be a firearm at Mal­colm, and fired sev­er­al shots, hit­ting him about the body.

The re­port said gun­man then turned the weapon on Mal­colm’s com­mon-law wife and de­mand­ed mon­ey be­fore flee­ing the scene. The in­jured shop own­er was rushed to the Rox­bor­ough Re­gion­al Hos­pi­tal by his wife and oth­ers but was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

Po­lice be­lieve rob­bery was the mo­tive for the killing, as the as­sailant at­tempt­ed to take cash be­fore es­cap­ing. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
