A Tobago woman was allegedly shot by her boyfriend during an argument on Friday afternoon in Bon Accord.
According to police, the 44-year-old school teacher and her boyfriend, 37, were at her White Drive residence when they got into a heated argument. According to reports, the confrontation escalated further when a gunshot was suddenly heard.
She was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital for treatment, where she remains in stable condition.
Snr Supt Rodhil Kirk told Guardian Media a suspect was detained in connection with the incident. However, he noted a police report about the incident was not made immediately.
“That information came to us long after that there was a shooting. We could only say it’s a gunshot until we get the evidence that it is a gunshot. Until then, we are investigating an apparent shooting,” he said.
Relatives remained tight-lipped about the incident when Guardian Media visited the home yesterday, but insisted the victim was doing okay.
They noted they wished their privacy be respected for the sake of the victim and her daughter.—Stephon Nicholas
