Despite the ongoing discussions surrounding Constitutional Reform, Tobagonians remain focused on their demands for autonomy even with the Tobago Autonomy Bill still awaiting clearance.
At the first of two consultations held by the National Advisory Committee at the Bell Garden Multi-Purpose Facility on Thursday night, former Assemblyman Max James, described the exercise as “a mockery”.
“I need an understanding of we how should pitch our contributions having regard to the fact that we have our ideas already submitted to the Parliament—and with amendments—which have not been taken up by our Parliament,” he stated. “In a sense, for me, these talks are a complete waste of time.”
Just under 50 people attended at the consultation.
The second meeting is carded for next Monday, April 15, at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex.
