The Tobago People’s Party’s (TPP) 15-0 sweep of yesterday’s Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election is the third time in the history of T&T that an election has ended in a clean sweep.
The first was in 1971, when the People’s National Movement (PNM) won all 36 General Election seats largely due to a “No Vote” campaign (boycott) led by the major opposition parties.
The second occasion was in 2013, when the Tobago PNM, led by Orville London, swept the THA elections 12-0.
Last night’s victory earned the TPP a place in history, as the first indigenous Tobago party to sweep an election.
