The debacle of the Gasparillo buck is continuing to make the rounds on social media, drawing derision from some and laughter from others. Apart from hilarious memes, the “buck” now has a Twitter account and a Facebook page created by some people who felt it needed to tell its side of the story.
Guardian Media, which broke this story of the buck tormenting the Mathura family exclusively earlier this week, has been bombarded by requests from people wanting expansive coverage of the developments.
Several people, including metaphysician Dr Karin Kowlessar, visited the family yesterday to make an assessment as did several other supernatural experts.
During an interview, Krishna Mathura said he did not think it was feasible for media crews to spend the night at his home to wait and listen for the buck.
“It would not come out. Whenever people are here it does not come around. I don’t think it makes sense spending a night,” Mathura said.
He said a Muslim healer came with the police last night to make an assessment. Mathura said the man told them the house had a gin (spirit).
“He came about 1.30 am with the police. He did a ritual. He light some camphor and placed spiritual oil on the ground. He told us that he saw something flying across the yard from end to end,” Mathura said.
He noted that during the prayers the fire lighting on the camphor began to move strangely.
“The fire was going up and down. The Muslim man told us that something is buried in this place and that it was an evil spirit. He said he has to come back and find it,” Mathura added.
He said the Gasparillo police have also been making frequent patrols at their residence.
“Today, the sergeant came and gave us some moral support. There are some marks on the ground where they lit the fire. The members of the Universal Church also came and prayed with us,” Mathura said, adding they have been playing the voice recordings to prove something evil was lurking in their home.
“We don’t know what it is but many people know that we are suffering and they feel sorry for us. They are saying it is a wicked spirit that disguises.” Mathura said the flowers which were stolen were returned to the house yesterday but they burnt it at the back. Their remote control is still missing.
For those who think they are mentally deranged, Mathura said this was not true.
“None of us ever was hospitalised for a mental disorder. We just want peace in our home,” he added.
Kowlessar said she spoke to the family separately and was convinced that they were depressed out of fear. She said the house was “heavy.” However, she said she has to think more about the situation before making a diagnosis.
