One day after Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh announced the State was prepared to offer quarantine accommodations for those whose homes do not comfortably allow for this – two additional COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded.
In its 10 am update earlier today, the Ministry of Health confirmed the deaths of two adult males who had been suffering with co-morbidities.
The latest deaths have now brought the local death toll to 21.
Prior to this, four deaths were recorded between Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, 38 new cases were recorded between 6 pm on Saturday and 10 am today – bringing the active number of cases up to 990.
Officials have indicated the 38 new patients will be processed for admission, based on the discretion of the County Medical Officer of Health (CMOH).
Further, an additional eight persons have been discharged, bringing the total number of discharged persons to 672.
The ministry also indicated 75 patients remain hospitalized, with 59 at the Couva Hospital and Multi Training Facility; and 16 at the Caura Hospital.
There are 870 persons who are in home isolation and said to be under the continuous monitoring of the respective CMOHs.
