T&T COVID-19 death toll crosses 3,000, almost a thousand new infections reported

Trinidad and To­ba­go’s death toll for COVID-19 has crossed the three-thou­sand mark, with 18 new deaths push­ing the to­tal to 3,010 lives lost, the Min­istry of Health re­port­ed in its up­date for Fri­day 7 Jan­u­ary 2022.

974 peo­ple have test­ed pos­i­tive for the dis­ease, the Min­istry of Health says, based on sam­ples tak­en be­tween 1st and 6th Jan­u­ary 2022.  These new cas­es bring the to­tal ac­tive COVID-19 cas­es in the coun­try to 16,119.

The Min­istry al­so re­ports that at present, 48.1 per cent of the pop­u­la­tion has been vac­ci­nat­ed against COVID-19.
