T&T extends condolences after deadly Air India crash

The Min­istry of For­eign and Cari­com Af­fairs has ex­pressed con­do­lences on be­half of the Gov­ern­ment and peo­ple of Trinidad and To­ba­go to In­dia, fol­low­ing the dead­ly crash of Air In­dia Flight 171 in Ahmed­abad, Gu­jarat, on Thurs­day.

In a state­ment is­sued Fri­day, the Min­istry said it was “deeply sad­dened by the loss of 241 lives,” and of­fered sup­port to the fam­i­lies and loved ones af­fect­ed, adding, “The Gov­ern­ment of the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go stands in sol­i­dar­i­ty with the fam­i­lies and loved ones of the vic­tims dur­ing this time of im­mense grief.”

The crash claimed 241 lives, in­clud­ing pas­sen­gers, crew and in­di­vid­u­als on the ground. One per­son sur­vived.

The Min­istry al­so ex­tend­ed well wish­es to the lone sur­vivor, and ac­knowl­edged that na­tion­als of oth­er coun­tries were among the vic­tims.
