Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator Dr. Amery Browne, visited the Embassy of the United States of America to sign the condolence book opened in honour of former United States Ambassador Joseph Mondello, who passed away on August 1, 2022 in New York.
Mr. Mondello was the last US Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago and served in that capacity from October 2018 to January 2021.
A release from the Ministry confirmed Minister Browne’s visit to the US Embassy to extend condolences on behalf of this country.
The ministry reports that Minister Browne was received by Mr. Shante Moore, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., US Embassy, to whom he expressed sympathy and asked that condolences be also conveyed to Mr. Mondello’s family on behalf of the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago.
“Trinidad and Tobago and the United States of America share long-standing, friendly diplomatic relations. The presence of the Embassy and the engagement with US Ambassadors to Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain have facilitated the deepening and strengthening of these relations, including during Ambassador Mondello’s tenure,” the Ministry said in the statement.
