Amid this month's recognition and celebration of the steelpan, the T&T Music Stars Steel Orchestra has been presented with a new home.

The handing-over ceremony took place at the Chinapoo Community Centre in Morvant this morning, hosted by the East Port-of-Spain (EPOS) Development Company Limited.

The Morvant-based steel orchestra, formed in 2005 in Malick Barataria, moved to Chinapoo, Morvant in 2007 to facilitate the continued participation of a wide number of young people that reside in Chinapoo and surrounding communities.

Formerly housed at the old Chinapoo Community Centre, the building while being refurbished, upgraded and repurposed by the EPOS as requested by the community, left the band without a home, and as such, without the safety and security of space for their instruments.
