The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association (TTMA) says that it has reached a milestone with the successful administration of 10,000 first-dose vaccines to date for the business community as it makes way for the reopening of the business sector.
In a media release yesterday, the president of the TTMA, Tricia Coosal stated, "We are elated that TTMA is a solid contributor to the Government’s ‘Vaccinate to Operate’ programme. We thank the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Trade & Industry for the confidence and trust placed in TTMA to execute large vaccination sites. This public-private partnership has worked seamlessly for the vaccination of the business community."
Coosal said that the TTMA was committed to the administration of both first and second doses— the plan is to commence second dose administration to Phase one 5,000 vaccinated recipients next week.
"We deeply appreciate the volunteer assistance of the T&T Medical Association and SEWA TT International and the National Council for Indian Culture. On behalf of TTMA Board of Directors, we extend appreciation to all who contributed to the success of this 10,000 doses vaccination administration achievement…vaccination for the nation."
Construction workers get Sinopharm jabs
Meanwhile, hundreds of construction workers lined up at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts on Saturday to receive their first dose of Sinopharm vaccines.
The process was orderly and despite heavy rains, the lines flowed smoothly.
Among those being vaccinated were 40 plus workers from Allied Home Centre.
Managing director at the company Simon Alexander expressed satisfaction saying, "The service was excellent. All of my workers got through. They catered for 33 people this morning and seven others were vaccinated after 1 pm. So far I can say that the vaccinations being done at SAPA are running smoothly."
Vaccinations at SAPA will continue on Sunday.
