PRESS RELEASE BY THE TRINIDAD & TOBAGO PUBLISHERS & BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION: MRS. MARGARET ELCOCK

The Board and Members of the Trinidad & Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association (TTPBA) extend their heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones and the ISAAC 98.1 FM fraternity, on the passing of gospel radio pioneer, Mrs. Margaret Elcock.

We honour her memory as she envisioned and established, in 2002, the first twenty-four-hour gospel station in Trinidad and Tobago. Led by the desire to do much more than host one radio programme (Sounds Glorious on 95.1 FM), she brought into being I.S.A.A.C 98.1 FM the Promise. By 2012, it had become the “second most listened to station among the nation’s thirty-eight radio frequencies, and number one on Saturdays and Sundays”.

On May 03, 2016, (World Press Freedom Day) the TTPBA honoured Mrs. Elcock with its Award for Media Excellence for her:

“Outstanding and pioneering contribution to the development of radio in Trinidad and Tobago, becoming the first female owner and CEO of a radio station, establishing the first twenty-four-hour gospel station, and being the driving force behind programmes designed to counter the negatives in our society, shaping, rebuilding and promoting family life via the media”.

May she rest in the everlasting arms of her heavenly Father.
