“It’s fake news,” say the authorities, concerning a social media post claiming that the country will soon be under complete lockdown for a 14-day period, and that Government “will allow everyone to quarantine in their homes in order to slow the community spread” of COVID-19.
The post has been shared multiple times via Facebook, as well as via WhatsApp.

A news release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), speaking directly to the social media post, also is reminding members of the public to be cautious of false information sent via social media, which can cause unnecessary panic and anxiety.
The TTPS is advising members of the public to check and stay updated with TTPS Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for accurate information on matters relating to crime and policing, and to the Ministry of Health and other Government sources for COVID-19 related matters.
