No ransom was paid in the kidnapping involving businesswoman and former teacher Aneisha Narine-Boodhoo, who returned home on Tuesday morning.
This was confirmed by Snr Supt Mervyn Edwards, when he spoke with members of the media minutes after he walked out of Narine-Boodhoo's home at Girez Lane, El Soccorro Road.
Edwards said Narine-Boodhoo is at home and has been reunited with family members.
Guardian Media was told earlier that Narine-Boodhoo was taken to the hospital, where she was medically examined.
One report alleged that she walked into her home at 4 am on Tuesday morning. She is said to be unhurt but very traumatised.
On December 29, 2023, Aneisha Narine-Boodhoo allegedly was kidnapped.
On Saturday, police found the burnt-out shell of a vehicle in Centeno, south of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway. It was similar to the one used in the kidnapping.
Aneisha Narine-Boodhoo was in her white Toyota Prado SUV on a dead-end street near her business place, Autorama, in El Socorro, when she was snatched by four men dressed in what appeared to be police tactical uniforms.
Investigations are ongoing.
