Acting Police Commissioner Mc Donald Jacob praised officers for their continued work and dedication in ensuring the safety and security of the population as he joined them during operation Strike Back exercises in Beetham Gardens.
Mr Jacob stated that “given the increase in murders in the past few days and due to intelligence-led policing, it has become necessary to increase the level of operations in the Port of Spain, Western, Northern and North Eastern Divisions.” The following is a press release from the TTPS:
Commissioner of Police (Ag) Mc Donald Jacob together with Deputy Commissioners of Police (Ag) Erla Christopher and Joanne Archie, joined officers today in the Beetham Gardens as the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) ramps up its anti-crime operations.
Mr Jacob, in his briefing, praised officers for their continued work and dedication in ensuring the safety and security of the population, and urged them to also protect themselves and their colleagues. The Acting CoP said this was not a start in operations but a continuation of efforts by the TTPS across all Divisions.
He said the Operation Strike Back exercises, led by DCP (Ag) Operations, Erla Christopher, are ongoing. However, given the increase in murders in the past few days and due to intelligence-led policing, it has become necessary to increase the level of operations in the Port of Spain, Western, Northern and North Eastern Divisions.
Mr Jacob stated that persons should feel safe throughout all Divisions as they will be seeing more officers. He said the TTPS has enough personnel along with the support of the Defence Force to treat and prevent any escalation of criminal activities. The executive of the TTPS decided to join their officers to increase their motivation and give them support as they have been on the frontline of these exercises.
The acting CoP mentioned that the executive will not just sit in their offices but join officers on operations in the continued approach to push back the criminal elements. The exercise today included officers from the Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB), Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), Port of Spain Task Force (PoSTF), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and Emergency Response Patrol (ERP). Today’s operation included a visit to Trou Macque and environs, Laventille.
