The Unit­ed Na­tions Eco­nom­ic and So­cial Coun­cil (ECOSOC) has reap­point­ed Dr Kei­th Nurse, a Trinidad and To­ba­go na­tion­al and Prin­ci­pal and CEO of the Sir Arthur Lewis Com­mu­ni­ty Col­lege, as a mem­ber of the Com­mit­tee for De­vel­op­ment Pol­i­cy (CDP) for a third three-year term start­ing Jan­u­ary 2022. Dr Nurse has al­so served in the ex­ec­u­tive bu­reau of the CDP for the past two terms.

The an­nounce­ment of the new mem­bers for the CDP was pub­lished in a press re­lease on De­cem­ber 13, 2021 by Liu Zhen­min, Un­der Sec­re­tary-Gen­er­al of the Unit­ed Na­tions.

The CDP, a sub­sidiary body of the Unit­ed Na­tions, pro­vides in­de­pen­dent ad­vice to the ECOSOC on de­vel­op­ment pol­i­cy is­sues such as the 2030 Agen­da for Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment and is al­so re­spon­si­ble for de­cid­ing in­clu­sion in and grad­u­a­tion from the Least De­vel­oped Coun­tries (LD­Cs) group.

Dr. Nurse has worked as Se­nior Econ­o­mist and Ad­vi­sor on Struc­tur­al Poli­cies and In­no­va­tion at the OECD De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre in Paris. He is the for­mer World Trade Or­ga­ni­za­tion Chair at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies where he al­so served as Se­nior Fel­low at the Sir Art
