Registration for several major calypso competitions opened yesterday, with TUCO advising all nationals and naturalised citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to come forward.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation said registration for the 2026 National Calypso Competitions opened at 9 am yesterday at all five TUCO Zonal Offices nationwide.
Registration for the National Calypso Monarch Competition will run until January 9, while the National Extempo Monarch and the National Freestyle Monarch will close on January 30. Interested artistes have until January 13 and February 13 to register for the National Junior Calypso Monarch and the National Road March Competition, respectively.
TUCO said there are registration fees attached to these major competitions and advised those interested to provide an active email address to receive official notices, updates and competition information. It also said registrants are encouraged to begin the process early and ensure all requirements are met to secure eligibility for participation in the upcoming Carnival season.
