Two men were ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion, short­ly af­ter they al­leged­ly robbed a fe­male vic­tim of a gold chain and cel­lu­lar phone on Fri­day.

Of­fi­cers were on pa­trol at the cor­ner of Dun­can Street and In­de­pen­dence Square, be­tween 4 pm and 8 pm when they re­ceived

in­for­ma­tion about two male sus­pects be­ing in­volved in a re­port of lar­ce­ny a short time ear­li­er.

The of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to the re­port and ob­served the sus­pects at­tempt­ing to es­cape along Dun­can Street.

The men, ages 18 and 19 of Port of Spain and Barataria, were ar­rest­ed and the stolen items re­cov­ered.

Mean­while, Shi­va Balkissoon, 38, of Rousil­lac, ap­peared in court, charged in con­nec­tion with a re­port of Lar­ce­ny, which oc­curred on Thurs­day in the Ch­agua­nas dis­trict.

He plead­ed not guilty to the charge and was grant­ed bail in the sum of $30,000.

The ac­cused was al­so or­dered to re­port to the Oropouche Po­lice Sta­tion once a week.

Shanker Ablack, 42, and Alex­ia Ablack, 23, both of Pe­tit Val­ley, al­so ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter Goswa­mi, af­ter be­ing ar­rest­ed and charged in con­nec­tion with a re­port of Lar­ce­ny which oc­curred in the Ch­agua­nas dis­trict on Oc­to­ber 15.

Shanker plead­ed guilty to the charge and was fined $4,300 and placed on a bond to keep the peace for two years, while Alex­ia plead­ed not guilty and was grant­ed own bail in the sum of $10,000.

And, SHAUGHN CHARLES, 33 and JOSI­AH LEG­ERTON, 25, both of St. Joseph, were ar­rest­ed and charged in con­nec­tion with a re­port of Lar­ce­ny in the Ch­agua­nas dis­trict on Sep­tem­ber 26th.

They ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter Goswa­mi and plead­ed not guilty to the charges. The ac­cused were grant­ed own bail in the sum of $40,000 each and or­dered to re­port to the St. Joseph Po­lice Sta­tion once a month.
