A mobile patrol in the North Eastern Division led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of ammunition and drugs.
Officers stopped a gold Nissan Tiida driven by a 21-year-old man from El Socorro. When asked for his documents, he admitted he had never been issued a valid Trinidad and Tobago driver’s permit. Further checks confirmed this, and he was taken to the Barataria Police Station, where he was charged with:
-Driving without a valid driver’s permit
-Driving without a valid certificate of insurance
The officers then searched a bushy area at Girez Trace, El Socorro, where they found 20 rounds of 5.56 ammunition. Crime Scene Investigators seized the ammunition and took it to the San Juan Police Station.
Later, officers stopped a 31-year-old man from El Socorro driving a blue Mazda 3. A search of his car uncovered packets of cocaine on the front passenger seat. He was arrested and taken to the Barataria Police Station, where he was charged with possession of cocaine.
Investigations are ongoing.
