An anti-crime operation conducted across the Morvant, San Juan, St. Joseph, Port of Spain Division, and surrounding police districts has led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of cannabis, cocaine, and ammunition.
On Sunday, officers cordoned off Dorata Street, where a systematic search of the area—including abandoned buildings, derelict vehicles, and empty lots—resulted in the discovery of; 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 7 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
Nearby, officers also found and seized a clear plastic bag containing approximately 21 grams of cocaine.
At approximately 7:20 p.m., officers proceeded to the residence of a 28-year-old man at Laventille Road, Febeau Village, San Juan. A search of the premises, conducted under the Emergency Powers Regulations, led to the discovery of; 29 clear packets of cannabis totaling 64.7 grams and two camouflage pants.
The suspect was informed of the offences, arrested, advised of his rights, and transported to the San Juan Police Station for processing.
Later, at approximately 9:00 p.m., acting on further intelligence, officers proceeded to Rapsey Street, Curepe, where they arrested a 35-year-old man from Snake Valley, Laventille, for possession of 223 grams of cannabis. While searching a nearby vacant lot, officers also discovered a clear plastic packet containing approximately 4.98 grams of cocaine. The suspect was transported to the St. Joseph Police Station.
In a separate exercise conducted between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., officers carried out mobile and foot patrols in Belmont, East Port of Spain, and areas of the North Eastern Division.
During these patrols, at 11:05 a.m., officers discovered and seized a plastic bag containing 134 grams of cannabis.
In a separate search on George Street, officers seized 7.4 grams of cocaine. This operation was carried out by officers from the North Eastern Division.
