Two men have been detained and are assisting officers with their investigation into a spate of robberies in Chaguanas.
According to police reports, on August 13th, officers attached to the Chaguabnas Police station were on mobile patrol along Eleanor Street, Chaguanas, when they came upon two men who were behaving suspiciously.
The officers approached the men and identified themselves and the men immediately ran off. PCs Grant and Chaitlal gave chase and the men were apprehended a short distance later. The officers conducted a search of the men and discovered one Beretta nine millimetre pistol fitted with a magazine containing 14 rounds of ammunition stuck in the pants waist of one of the men.
The men, aged 21 and 19, both from Enterprise, Chaguanas, were immediately arrested. Charges are expected to be laid after the men are placed on identification parades. Investigations are ongoing.
