Two Barrackpore men are expected to appear before a Princes Town Magistrate today charged with possesion of firearms and ammunition.
Anthony Philip, 49, of Rochard Douglas Road, Barrackpore, was arrested during a search at his home. Police allegedly found a double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun, one single barrel 12-gauge shotgun, along with four rounds of 12- gauge ammunition in a bedroom. Phillip was arrested and charged by PC Baisden.
During the same exercise, around 11:55 pm, a search warrant was executed at a residence at Cumuto Road, South Barrackpore. Anil Seenath, 29, was arrested and charged by PC Mitchell after a pump-action shotgun and seven rounds of 12-gauge ammunition were allegedly found in a bedroom.
The exercise which was conducted between the hours of 10 pm on Tuesday 11th May and 1 am on Wednesday 12th May, 2021, was coordinated by Snr Supt Lucia Winchester and ASP Ramdass. It was supervised by Sgts Joseph and Charles, along with Cpl Phoolchan. It included officers of the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF) Area East.
