Two Bar­rack­pore men are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Princes Town Mag­is­trate to­day charged with pos­s­e­sion of firearms and am­mu­ni­tion.

An­tho­ny Philip, 49, of Rochard Dou­glas Road, Bar­rack­pore, was ar­rest­ed dur­ing a search at his home. Po­lice al­leged­ly found a dou­ble-bar­rel 12-gauge shot­gun, one sin­gle bar­rel 12-gauge shot­gun, along with four rounds of 12- gauge am­mu­ni­tion in a bed­room. Phillip was ar­rest­ed and charged by PC Bais­den.

Dur­ing the same ex­er­cise, around 11:55 pm, a search war­rant was ex­e­cut­ed at a res­i­dence at Cu­mu­to Road, South Bar­rack­pore. Anil Seenath, 29, was ar­rest­ed and charged by PC Mitchell af­ter a pump-ac­tion shot­gun and sev­en rounds of 12-gauge am­mu­ni­tion were al­leged­ly found in a bed­room.

The ex­er­cise which was con­duct­ed be­tween the hours of 10 pm on Tues­day 11th May and 1 am on Wednes­day 12th May, 2021, was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Lu­cia Win­ches­ter and ASP Ram­dass. It was su­per­vised by Sgts Joseph and Charles, along with Cpl Phoolchan. It in­clud­ed of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (SDTF) Area East.
