Two drivers are being treated at Sangre Grande Hospital following a head-on collision between a truck and a car. The identities and conditions of the victims are unknown at this time.
The incident occurred earlier this morning when the truck driver lost control while travelling west along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway just before the Cumuto Junction. The truck crossed the median and crashed into the car on the eastbound lane. The force of the impact sent the car careening into the bushes.
PCs Thompson and Redman from the Highway Patrol were nearby on patrol and quickly responded to the accident. First responders worked together to remove the drivers from their vehicles and transported them to the hospital.
