Two firearms and quantities of ammunition were seized by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, during anti-crime operations in the Port-of-Spain and North Eastern Divisions.
Officers conducted an exercise in the Second Caledonia area between 1 am and 5 am on Wednesday. A search of the area resulted in the discovery of one assault rifle, loaded with a magazine, containing three rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
In the Morvant and Laventille districts, officers conducted an exercise between 10:45 am and 1 pm on Tuesday. This resulted in the discovery of one Beretta pistol, loaded with a magazine, containing 15 rounds of ammunition. Fourteen additional rounds of assorted ammunition and a quantity of cannabis were also discovered.
In another exercise, fifteen rounds of 9mm ammunition were found in an abandoned lot at St. Paul Street, East Dry River, Port-of-Spain during a search between 9 am and 5 pm on Tuesday.
