Two firearms and quantities of ammunition seized

Two firearms and quan­ti­ties of am­mu­ni­tion were seized by of­fi­cers of the In­ter-Agency Task Force, dur­ing an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions in the Port-of-Spain and North East­ern Di­vi­sions.

Of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise in the Sec­ond Cale­do­nia area be­tween 1 am and 5 am on Wednes­day. A search of the area re­sult­ed in the dis­cov­ery of one as­sault ri­fle, loaded with a mag­a­zine, con­tain­ing three rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion.

In the Mor­vant and Laven­tille dis­tricts, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise be­tween 10:45 am and 1 pm on Tues­day. This re­sult­ed in the dis­cov­ery of one Beretta pis­tol, loaded with a mag­a­zine, con­tain­ing 15 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion. Four­teen ad­di­tion­al rounds of as­sort­ed am­mu­ni­tion and a quan­ti­ty of cannabis were al­so dis­cov­ered.

In an­oth­er ex­er­cise, fif­teen rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion were found in an aban­doned lot at St. Paul Street, East Dry Riv­er, Port-of-Spain dur­ing a search be­tween 9 am and 5 pm on Tues­day.
