Two policewomen among four held in HDC fraud probe

Two WPCs were among four women ar­rest­ed dur­ing an ear­ly morn­ing op­er­a­tion on Thurs­day, as po­lice launched a probe in­to an al­leged Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (HDC) scheme.

In a me­dia re­lease the TTPS said the co­or­di­nat­ed ex­er­cise be­gan around 3:50 a.m. on 5th June, 2025, and took place across the Ari­ma, Ch­agua­nas, and San Juan dis­tricts. Of­fi­cers ex­e­cut­ed two war­rants, re­sult­ing in the ar­rest of the two po­lice of­fi­cers and two oth­er fe­male sus­pects.

Deputy Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Suzette Mar­tin di­rect­ed the op­er­a­tion, with As­sis­tant Com­mis­sion­ers Knutt and Tewarie lead­ing the ex­er­cise. 

Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Kirk, Su­per­in­ten­dents Jack­man, Jankie, and Lutch­man, along with ASP Lynch and Women In­spec­tors McKen­zie, Thomas, Guy, and Fran­cis, al­so sup­port­ed the ef­fort.

The TTPS said the op­er­a­tion drew on the com­bined re­sources of sev­er­al spe­cialised units, in­clud­ing the Pro­fes­sion­al Stan­dards Bu­reau, the Fraud Squad, the Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit, the Fi­nan­cial In­tel­li­gence Unit, the In­ter-Agency Task Force, and the An­ti-Cor­rup­tion In­ves­ti­ga­tion Bu­reau.

Po­lice con­firmed that in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the mat­ter re­main on­go­ing.
