Two women and two men have been ar­rest­ed and joint­ly charged in con­nec­tion with a bur­glary re­port­ed in the South West­ern Di­vi­sion on Sep­tem­ber 13.

A state­ment is­sued by the TTPS yes­ter­day, iden­ti­fied the ac­cused as a 29-year-old woman of Monoorhar Ma­haraj Trace, Bar­rack­pore, a 35-year-old woman of Monoorhar Ma­haraj Trace, Bar­rack­pore, a 28-year-old man of Has­sanali Trace, Low­er Bar­rack­pore, and a 31-year-old man of Re­form De­vel­op­ment, Gas­par­il­lo.

Po­lice said the vic­tims were asleep at their South Oropouche Trace, South Bar­rack­pore, home when they were awak­ened by loud nois­es. On check­ing, they ob­served two men climb­ing through a win­dow on the west­ern side of the house.

The sus­pects tied up the vic­tims and robbed them of sev­er­al items, in­clud­ing di­a­mond jew­ellery worth US$2,200, ap­prox­i­mate­ly $10,000 in Dig­i­cel phone cards, about $3,000 in cash, an iPhone 12 val­ued at $4,000, a brown purse val­ued at $100 (con­tain­ing an RBC bank card, a T&T Na­tion­al Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion Card, a Dri­ver’s Per­mit, and $1,500), two pass­ports val­ued at $1,000 be­long­ing to both vic­tims, and a gold Maz­da 3 mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

The sus­pects then fled in the stolen ve­hi­cle.

The po­lice were con­tact­ed, and in­ves­ti­ga­tions were launched.

Fol­low­ing en­quiries con­duct­ed by PC Seecha­ran, search­es were car­ried out at the homes of three of the sus­pects, where sev­er­al items of ev­i­den­tial val­ue were re­cov­ered.

As a re­sult, the four sus­pects were joint­ly charged with bur­glary, two counts of false im­pris­on­ment, two counts of rob­bery with vi­o­lence, and lar­ce­ny of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

Po­lice said the 29-year-old fe­male sus­pect was al­so charged with pos­ses­sion of stolen items.
