Two women and two men have been arrested and jointly charged in connection with a burglary reported in the South Western Division on September 13.
A statement issued by the TTPS yesterday, identified the accused as a 29-year-old woman of Monoorhar Maharaj Trace, Barrackpore, a 35-year-old woman of Monoorhar Maharaj Trace, Barrackpore, a 28-year-old man of Hassanali Trace, Lower Barrackpore, and a 31-year-old man of Reform Development, Gasparillo.
Police said the victims were asleep at their South Oropouche Trace, South Barrackpore, home when they were awakened by loud noises. On checking, they observed two men climbing through a window on the western side of the house.
The suspects tied up the victims and robbed them of several items, including diamond jewellery worth US$2,200, approximately $10,000 in Digicel phone cards, about $3,000 in cash, an iPhone 12 valued at $4,000, a brown purse valued at $100 (containing an RBC bank card, a T&T National Identification Card, a Driver’s Permit, and $1,500), two passports valued at $1,000 belonging to both victims, and a gold Mazda 3 motor vehicle.
The suspects then fled in the stolen vehicle.
The police were contacted, and investigations were launched.
Following enquiries conducted by PC Seecharan, searches were carried out at the homes of three of the suspects, where several items of evidential value were recovered.
As a result, the four suspects were jointly charged with burglary, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of robbery with violence, and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Police said the 29-year-old female suspect was also charged with possession of stolen items.
