Unvaccinated person is latest COVID-19 death in Tobago

There was one new COVID-19 death re­port­ed in To­ba­go last week—that of an un­vac­ci­nat­ed per­son.  It is the first re­port­ed COVID-19-re­lat­ed death in three weeks.

Ac­cord­ing to the lat­est week­ly up­date from the Di­vi­sion of Health, Well­ness and So­cial Pro­tec­tion, in the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA), cov­er­ing the pe­ri­od Sun­day 6 to Sat­ur­day 12 No­vem­ber 2022, the is­land’s death toll from the dis­ease is now 287, as at Sat­ur­day, No­vem­ber 12.

Pri­or to last week, the most re­cent­ly record­ed COVID-19-re­lat­ed death was dur­ing the week of Oc­to­ber 9 to 15, 2022.  The de­ceased then al­so was an un­vac­ci­nat­ed per­son.

The THA Health Di­vi­sion re­port notes eight more peo­ple test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19 in To­ba­go, last week. The num­ber of ac­tive in­fec­tions was 15, as at Sat­ur­day, No­vem­ber 12. This rep­re­sents a sig­nif­i­cant drop from the pre­vi­ous week (Oc­to­ber 30 to No­vem­ber 5, 2022), at which time there were 42 ac­tive cas­es.

In ad­di­tion, the Health Di­vi­sion con­firms there are no pa­tients hos­pi­talised for COVID-19, as of No­vem­ber 12.

The To­ba­go COVID-19 up­date al­so re­ports that pa­tients con­tin­ue to sur­vive the dis­ease as 34 peo­ple were cer­ti­fied as re­cov­ered from COVID-19 dur­ing the pe­ri­od No­vem­ber 6-12, 2022.

A to­tal of 10,956 in To­ba­go have re­cov­ered from COVID-19 since March 2020—up from 10,922 the pre­vi­ous week.
