The United States is congratulating Trinidad and Tobago on the celebration of its 63rd anniversary of independence.
In a statement, the United States noted the partnership shared with T&T in advancing stability and prosperity across the hemisphere. The message highlighted ongoing cooperation in dismantling transnational criminal organisations, disrupting narco-trafficking networks, and building regional energy security for the benefit of both nations.
The statement emphasised that these initiatives demonstrate the value of the partnership and its regional impact. The United States reaffirmed its commitment to continued collaboration with T&T, under the leadership of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, in the areas of regional security, economic growth, and stability.
Meanwhile, the Government of Guyana also extended congratulations to T&T on its independence anniversary. In his statement, President Dr Irfaan Ali conveyed greetings on behalf of the Government and people of Guyana, expressing best wishes to the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago.
Ali said the anniversary offered an opportunity for reflection and recognition of the nation’s progress and the resilience of its people. He reaffirmed Guyana’s commitment to the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and expressed his interest in strengthening ties in the future.
Guyana and T&T have maintained longstanding bilateral relations, with cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, security, and regional integration. President Ali said Guyana values the partnership and remains focused on ensuring its continued growth.
T&T gained independence on August 31, 1962, and has since maintained strong relations with countries across the region, including Guyana and the United States.
