A Venezuelan mother of three was stabbed to death on Sunday afternoon when two of her neighbours ambushed her.
Police are now searching for a Venezuelan man and woman responsible for the murder of Isabelle Virginia Lozada Morales.
Police reports stated that Morales was stabbed in the chest and legs on Sunday afternoon, following an ambush by the duo who are now on the run.
Police reports stated that around 3.40 pm, Morales was outside her apartment at Southern Main Road, Cunupia, when she and the woman got into a fight.
Police reported that the suspect walked up to Morales and began hitting her in the face. Morales pulled out a knife and cut her attacker on her forearm. The attacker then walked away and went to another apartment on the compound.
Minutes later, the suspect came back with a man and they both began beating Morales. At one point, the man pulled out a knife. During a scuffle, Morales was stabbed three times. Her attackers ran off after she collapsed.
Morales was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where she succumbed to her injuries while being treated.
Speaking with Guardian Media yesterday, a man who described himself as a close friend of Morales, who had known her for the past three months, said she was supposed to return to Venezuela last Saturday, the day before she was killed.
According to the man, who did not want to be identified, Morales could not secure all the money needed for the flight, forcing her to stay at least an additional week.
The two last spoke on Sunday afternoon around 2.30 pm but had to cut the conversation short as her son wanted to use the cellphone.
He promised to visit her later that day, only to be informed later on that she was killed. Morales, he said, has two daughters in Venezuela.
