Tobago has a new soca champion.
On Wednesday night, Jaheim Thomas, also known as Verse, took the Tobago Soca Titans crown after an intense competition with some of the island’s top soca stars.
Verse wowed the crowd with a powerful, high-energy performance that had everyone on their feet. His commanding stage presence, combined with a catchy rhythm and infectious lyrics, left no doubt that he was one of the highlights of the night.
His rendition of Pump It Up earned him the $75,000 first-place cash prize. He also dethroned last year’s winner, Adrian “Num Num” Isaac, taking the top title.
Coming in close behind was Khalen “JaMoi” Alexander, with his own impressive performance, while CNC3’s sports reporter, Caston Cupid, kept the energy high with his spirited delivery, earning both contestants second and third places respectively.
The event kicked off Tobago’s Carnival season and leads into tonight’s Calypso Monarch competition at the Magdalena Grand Hotel where ten finalists will battle for this year’s title.
