To­ba­go has a new so­ca cham­pi­on.

On Wednes­day night, Ja­heim Thomas, al­so known as Verse, took the To­ba­go So­ca Ti­tans crown af­ter an in­tense com­pe­ti­tion with some of the is­land’s top so­ca stars.

Verse wowed the crowd with a pow­er­ful, high-en­er­gy per­for­mance that had every­one on their feet. His com­mand­ing stage pres­ence, com­bined with a catchy rhythm and in­fec­tious lyrics, left no doubt that he was one of the high­lights of the night.

His ren­di­tion of Pump It Up earned him the $75,000 first-place cash prize. He al­so de­throned last year’s win­ner, Adri­an “Num Num” Isaac, tak­ing the top ti­tle.

Com­ing in close be­hind was Khalen “JaMoi” Alexan­der, with his own im­pres­sive per­for­mance, while CNC3’s sports re­porter, Cas­ton Cu­pid, kept the en­er­gy high with his spir­it­ed de­liv­ery, earn­ing both con­tes­tants sec­ond and third places re­spec­tive­ly.

The event kicked off To­ba­go’s Car­ni­val sea­son and leads in­to tonight’s Ca­lyp­so Monarch com­pe­ti­tion at the Mag­dale­na Grand Ho­tel where ten fi­nal­ists will bat­tle for this year’s ti­tle.
