Wall Brothers Production registered a hat-trick of wins in Couva J’Ouvert with a tantalising portrayal of Maljo J’Ouvert at the Couva Carnival Centre on Monday.
For good measure, the Couva-based band, led by Neal Wall, also captured three of the main individual prizes. Aaron Thorington won King of J’Ouvert with his portrayal of King O-See, while his wife Jerene Thorington took the Queen of J’Ouvert crown with Queen I-See. Colleen Pascal took Female Individual of the Year with Couva Come Alive.
“This is fantastic. I’m so elated for our entire team. Hat-tricks don’t come easy. We are going to celebrate with gusto,” the excited bandleader said afterwards.
Bear Feelings J’Ouvert, led by Amir Boodoo, took second place in Band of the Year honours, with Who’s Badda!! Finesse J’Ouvert, led by Quamme John, placed third with Jab Topaz.
Multiple champions Anton and Lolita J’Ouvert opted out of the competition yet again but crossed the stage with over 3,000 revellers with Out On De Road.
In other results, Aubrey Felix took first place as Male Individual of the Year with Calling Jearlean John on Stage, while Joseph Coombs placed second with I’m a Silent Blogger.
