Police are searching for a suspect seen fleeing from a car in which a Wallerfield man was found dead on Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as Tijanna “Rocky” Small, 38, of Demerara Heights, Wallerfield. Small was executed as he sat in the driver’s seat of a silver Nissan Tiida motor vehicle.
Officers from the Arima Police Station and the Emergency Response Patrol were alerted that gunshots had been heard around 7.50 pm, coming from a silver Nissan Tiida parked along Barbuda Road near Antigua Road.
Officers found the car in a dark area, with Small slumped in the driver’s seat. The District Medical Officer visited the scene, declared Small dead, and ordered his body removed to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, for an autopsy.
In a separate incident earlier on Wednesday afternoon, a 24-year-old San Juan man was shot by a close male relative following an alleged argument.
The victim, who lives at the location where the shooting occurred on Bagatelle Extension Road, was reportedly standing on the road around 4.10 pm on October 29 when he was allegedly confronted by the suspect, and the two began arguing. It is claimed that as the dispute escalated, the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim several times in both legs before walking away.
The victim was taken by relatives to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he was treated and warded in a stable condition. —Anna-Lisa Paul
