Po­lice are search­ing for a sus­pect seen flee­ing from a car in which a Waller­field man was found dead on Wednes­day night.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as Ti­jan­na “Rocky” Small, 38, of De­mer­ara Heights, Waller­field. Small was ex­e­cut­ed as he sat in the dri­ver’s seat of a sil­ver Nis­san Ti­i­da mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

Of­fi­cers from the Ari­ma Po­lice Sta­tion and the Emer­gency Re­sponse Pa­trol were alert­ed that gun­shots had been heard around 7.50 pm, com­ing from a sil­ver Nis­san Ti­i­da parked along Bar­bu­da Road near An­tigua Road.

Of­fi­cers found the car in a dark area, with Small slumped in the dri­ver’s seat. The Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer vis­it­ed the scene, de­clared Small dead, and or­dered his body re­moved to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James, for an au­top­sy.

In a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent ear­li­er on Wednes­day af­ter­noon, a 24-year-old San Juan man was shot by a close male rel­a­tive fol­low­ing an al­leged ar­gu­ment.

The vic­tim, who lives at the lo­ca­tion where the shoot­ing oc­curred on Bagatelle Ex­ten­sion Road, was re­port­ed­ly stand­ing on the road around 4.10 pm on Oc­to­ber 29 when he was al­leged­ly con­front­ed by the sus­pect, and the two be­gan ar­gu­ing. It is claimed that as the dis­pute es­ca­lat­ed, the sus­pect pulled out a firearm and shot the vic­tim sev­er­al times in both legs be­fore walk­ing away.

The vic­tim was tak­en by rel­a­tives to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, where he was treat­ed and ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion. —An­na-Lisa Paul
