Residents of Wallerfield, Arima, are calling on police to increase patrols following a series of robberies and break-ins within the last couple of weeks.
In the latest incident around 3:30 am on March 6, a 77-year-old pensioner of Churchill Roosevelt Highway, Wallerfield, and his 71-year-old wife were asleep in their bedroom when a loud noise woke them.
When the man checked, seven masked men allegedly confronted him, one of whom was armed with a gun and announced a robbery.
The suspects reportedly tied up the couple and forced them to lie on the ground as they ransacked the house looking for cash and valuables.
The suspects later stole two Samsung cell phones, several power tools, jewellery, and $500 in cash before escaping in a silver or grey Nissan AD Wagon.
Investigations continue.
