The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (the Au­thor­i­ty) says the raw wa­ter qual­i­ty in the Ca­roni Riv­er has im­proved and op­er­a­tions at the Ca­roni Wa­ter Treat­ment Plant has been nor­malised.

In a press re­lease is­sued to­day, WASA as­sured cus­tomers that the wa­ter be­ing pro­duced at the plant is safe and meets the stan­dards of the Guide­lines for Drink­ing Wa­ter of the World Health Or­gan­i­sa­tion (WHO).

Some dis­coloura­tion of the sup­ply may oc­cur as op­er­a­tions on the Au­thor­i­ty’s trans­mis­sion sys­tems are sta­bilised.

Cus­tomers are re­mind­ed that it may take up to 48 hours for the pipe-borne wa­ter sup­ply to nor­mal­ize to some ar­eas in keep­ing with es­tab­lished wa­ter sup­ply sched­ules.
