A Westmoorings woman and a Debe man were detained by police over the weekend, following several reports that they were soliciting victims via social media dating applications—and imprisoning and robbing them, before threatening the victims and their families in exchange for money.
The 29-year-old woman, of West Park Villas, Westmoorings; and the 35-year-old man, of Ramdhanie Trace, Debe, remained in police custody up to yesterday.
However, the two were expected to be released by last night, as no charges were brought against them while investigations were ongoing.
They are facing allegations including false imprisonment, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and robbery with violence and extortion/blackmail.
The Westmoorings woman, who uses the aliases Fiona and Danielle on social media and dating sites, was said to be of African descent and often wears long curly blond wigs. She was also said to have several scars on her left hand from cutting herself.
Meanwhile, her male friend, who goes by the alias Vik, is of East Indian descent, with a rasta hairstyle.
He was said to have scars on his left wrist and left shoulder, along with tattoos containing words and picture insignias on his left and right forearms, back and chest.
