A 22-year-old university student is being treated for minor injuries she sustained when she tried crossing the Priority Bus Route (PBR) near Dinsley Junction on Friday morning.

Police said the woman was crossing the road, when a small red-band maxi overtook a parked maxi on the westbound lane, knocking her down.

The driver immediately stopped the maxi and helped her.

Passers-by including a Coast Guardsman, who was travelling nearby, also stopped to help.

The woman was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex by an ambulance where she was kept for observation.

Police said while tests and treatment were still ongoing up to Friday evening, the woman had difficulty getting feelings in one of her legs but was conscious and aware.

Officers said the driver of the maxi visited the hospital with the woman's parents.

Officers of the Arouca CID were called in and are continuing enquiries.
