A 29-year-old San­gre Grande woman was ar­rest­ed on Fri­day af­ter she re­port­ed­ly at­tempt­ed to smug­gle mar­i­jua­na in­to the Gold­en Grove Prison in Arou­ca.

Prison of­fi­cials said the woman came to vis­it a man at the Ex­ter­nal Re­mand Fa­cil­i­ty just af­ter lunch when she was held. The woman was ar­rest­ed at the scan­ner room with the drugs hid­den in­side 76 dates.

The drugs weighed 170 grammes and were wrapped in plas­tic wrap and stuffed in­side pit­ted dates.

The woman faces drug traf­fick­ing charges and is ex­pect­ed to go to court on Mon­day, as she was hand­ed over to of­fi­cers of the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion.—Jensen La Vende
